"I love what I do!" It's what I say each time I see someone's reaction to the transformation of a room or an object. It's what I feel as I watch the mood of a space totally changed by good use of custom art, faux finishes or hand-painted furniture. Hi, I'm Lisa Cicalese McMillen. Thank you for visiting Cica Lisa Designs. I invite you to look around, and to explore the homes and businesses within which I've been privileged to create. My unique point-of-view about painting has developed over 25 years of professional work and actually emerges from my background and formal education in fashion design. I was trained to design for people-- to consider how they live and move in space. I learned that clothing design works when you notice how incredibly good the person looks first, before you see the actual dress or jacket. I believe that design for a room works the same way. You should see the improved whole and you should notice how the room feels different and better before you see a particular piece. Simply put: I paint to pull everything in a room together both practically and aesthetically. As you tour this site, notice the range of requests and the fun I've had together with my clients or their designers. We've created sanctuaries, hideaways, and gathering spots through simple color change, the addition of depth or texture with faux finishes, or the ultimate pizzazz of a mural. I'm proud of the results, but more than that I'm proud of how each reflects the unique personality and style of its owner, how the rooms help them get the most that they can from their home or business.
